[Hepatocellular adenomas]
Abstract
Hepatocellular adenomas are benign tumours in the liver with the potential for bleeding and malignant transformation. The risk of bleeding and malignant transformation depends on gender, size, and molecular and imaging subtypes. In this review, diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular adenomas are discussed. Treatment depends on the risk profile and clinical manifestations. Initially, cessation of hormone therapy is recommended. Surgical treatment is recommended for all adenomas in males. In females, surgical treatment is considered in adenomas > 5 cm, but also depending on molecular subtype, clinical manifestations (e.g., bleeding), and other factors.
