Common Peroneal Nerve Syndrome Following Tibial Shaft Fracture Treated by Intramedullary Nailing Under Regional Anesthesia: A Case Report With 16-Month Follow-Up

Francesco Marrone et al. A A Pract. .

Abstract

We report a case of common peroneal nerve (CPN) syndrome manifesting as a foot drop after a tibial shaft fracture treated by intramedullary nailing under regional anesthesia. Prolonged sensorimotor deficits in the peroneal nerve distribution prompted an extensive diagnostic and therapeutic approach. This case highlights the multifactorial nature of nerve injuries and emphasizes the importance of vigilant monitoring, early diagnosis, and appropriate follow-up care. .
