Mid-trimester patch repair of a large cesarean scar dehiscence in an incarcerated gravid uterus with successful pregnancy outcome - A case report and review of literature
Abstract
We report a case of reposition and patch repair of an incarcerated uterus with threatened rupture of uterine scar dehiscence in mid-trimester. This review summarizes surgical procedures and techniques in the management of uterine dehiscence and rupture in the second trimester with the aim to continue the pregnancy. In total, 14 cases of surgical repair of uterine rupture and dehiscence, respectively, in pre-viable pregnancies were identified in the literature. Good neonatal outcomes with only two cases of delivery before 32 weeks strengthen the approach to attempt uterine repair in cases of second-trimester dehiscence or uterine rupture with intact membranes.
