Physicians and Disabilities
Abstract
The care of patients with disabilities remains a significant challenge for the healthcare system. This challenge is made worse by gaps in education and awareness among medical providers. Despite the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which seeks to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities, healthcare providers often struggle to deliver comprehensive patient centered care to this diverse population. This article explores the relationship between medical providers and patients with disabilities, highlighting the importance of individualized care and recommending strategies to improve healthcare delivery for these patients.
