Diagnostic assessment for venous leg ulcers: Recommendations from the Wounds and Healing working group of the French Society of Vascular Medicine
Abstract
Venous leg ulcers (VLU) impair patients' quality of life and result in significant costs for society and is the consequence of chronic venous disease. There are no guidelines on the diagnostic assessment in leg ulcers, detailing the vascular examinations and the procedures for carrying them out in cases of VLU. Thus, the diagnostic evaluation is often heterogeneous and incomplete, leading to delays in the management and the healing. The Wounds and Healing group of the SFMV is proposing, through a review of the literature, to draw up recommendations for the diagnostic assessment of VLU in order to harmonize the practice between physicians.
