[Dog work: animal mediation and teenagers]
Abstract
Animal mediation with a mediator dog has been offered for over two years at the Maison des adolescents (MDA) du Cher, providing a different approach to the biopsychosocial assessment of 11 to 25 year-olds and their entourage. Whether in individual, peer or family groups, this method not only facilitates bonding, but also provides reassurance during dialogues on difficult subjects. This article gives an example of what's already been done at the MDA in Bourges, where Chorizo, a 2-year-old beagle, facilitates exchanges and the development of psychosocial skills.
