[Elbow arthroplasty]
Abstract
Elbow arthroplasty is a rare treatment option and is primarily used to treat distal humeral fractures that are not amenable to open reduction and internal fixation, as well as degenerative and inflammatory arthritis. In Denmark, treatment has been centralised since 2008 to three specialised university hospitals to ensure a high quality of treatment. Elbow arthroplasty generally yields good functional and patient-reported outcomes, but with high rates of revision and complications. The current literature remains limited, particularly in terms of long-term outcomes.
