QAK is the co-founder and John C Martin Chair for Global Health at the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA). CAPRISA previously received the active pharmaceutical ingredients of tenofovir difumarate and tenofovir alafenamide from Gilead Sciences. QAK received partial travel and accommodation support from the Academy of Medical Sciences to deliver this Lecture.
