Abstract

A case of primary pneumococcal peritonitis in a girl of 9 is presented. The diagnosis was made at laparotomy and confirmed by immediate bacteriological examination. The condition is extremely rare and accounts for 1 in 5 of all cases of primary peritonitis in children.
