Figure 1:. Olfr2 guides monocyte recruitment to the inflamed aortic wall during AAA.
Olfr2-expression corresponds with increased CX3CR1 on blood monocytes and enhances recruitment to the vascular wall in experimental AAA. Additionally, exogenous Olfr2 agonism with octanal promoted AAA lesion formation. Olfr2 blockade (citral) or CX3CR1 inhibition (JSM 17–2) showed attenuated monocyte recruitment and AAA pathology.
