The affinity of mycobacterial glycopetides for guinea-pig gamma immunoglobulin and its fragments
Abstract
Mycobacterial glycopeptides containing arabinose and muramic acid were shown to possess an affinity for guinea-pig γ2-immunoglobulin. The binding of the glycopeptide to Fc and Fab fragments of γ2-globulin was found to be in a ratio of 4:2. From molecular weight calculations it is suggested that there were either eighteen or six binding sites for glycopeptide on the γ-globulin. Heavy and light chains were found to possess the affinity for the glycopeptide.
