[Diethylstilbestrol to pregnant women and vaginal carcinoma in their daughters]
Abstract
PIP: Women with epilepsy have a slightly higher risk of bearing children with congenital defects than normal women, which becomes a 6-7% risk if the woman is using antiepileptic drugs. This is probably due to the teratogenic effect of high plasma concentrations of phenytoin or other antiepileptic drugs. It is suspected that use of phenytoin may weaken the effect of oral contraceptives.
