The proliferative response after partial hepatectomy in hypophysectomized rats bearing portacaval anastomoses

The proliferative response after partial hepatectomy in hypophysectomized rats bearing portacaval anastomoses

K Weinbren et al. Br J Exp Pathol. 1973 Aug.

Abstract

An attempt has been made to isolate the component mechanisms involved in the proliferative response of the rat liver after partial hepatectomy. The exclusion of portal haemodynamic factors was effected by portacaval anastomosis and the influence of major endocrine gland activity by hypophysectomy. Rats in which both these surgical procedures had been performed showed evidence of a hepatic restorative response after partial hepatectomy.
