Cost sensitivity analysis for radiology department planning

Abstract

Two complementary computer programs have been developed for forecasting the demands and evaluating the costs of proposed radiographic facilities. The models are employed here in analyses of the sensitivity of investment and operating costs to selected design variables. The versatility of the evaluation methodology is further illustrated by a comparison of costs for alternative facility arrangements representing various degrees of decentralization. Cost differences arising from the use of conventional or high-speed x-ray equipment and from one-shift or two-shift operation are also explored for the various alternative arrangements.
