Antigen release from insoluble polymer complexes by lymphocyte cell suspensions

Antigen release from insoluble polymer complexes by lymphocyte cell suspensions

J L Smith et al. Clin Exp Immunol. 1971 Dec.

Abstract

Slow release of antigenically active PPD occurs from polyaminostyrene-PPD covalent complexes even after exhaustive washing. Lymphocyte cell suspensions caused an accelerated rate of release which correlated with the tuberculin sensitivity of the donor and the ability of the cells to respond to soluble PPD in vitro by increased DNA synthesis. The release of antigenically active material from these complexes makes them unsuitable as insoluble antigens.
