The effect of peripheral lymphocytes from patients with inflammatory joint disease on human target cells in vitro

The effect of peripheral lymphocytes from patients with inflammatory joint disease on human target cells in vitro

I C MacLennan et al. Clin Exp Immunol. 1968 Jun.

Abstract

A cytotoxic effect on human target cells as measured by chromium (51Cr) release has been shown to be caused by allogeneic peripheral lymphocytes stimulated in vitro with phytohaemagglutinin (PHA). Unstimulated lymphocytes cause slight cytotoxicity to target cells. The extent of this spontaneous cytotoxicity was the same with lymphocytes from twenty-seven patients with inflammatory joint disease as with healthy controls. The enhanced cytotoxicity caused by lymphocytes stimulated with PHA was also similar in the two groups.
