The effect of propranolol on normal physiologic tremor
Abstract
It has been demonstrated that intravenous propranolol produces a 34-60% decrease in normal physiological tremor. The decrease, in response to small doses of the drug (less than 12 mug/kg), was linearly proportional to the baseline tremor size and occurred only following a 10 min delay. It is possible that the effect on tremor is due to the formation of a highly specific centrally acting metabolite of propranolol.
