Chemotaxis of polymorphs induced by tissue antigens and normal serum in rats: a possible clearance mechanism

Chemotaxis of polymorphs induced by tissue antigens and normal serum in rats: a possible clearance mechanism

C J Elson et al. Clin Exp Immunol. 1967 Sep.

Abstract

Mixing normal rat serum with various particulate sub-cellular components has been found to induce polymorphonuclear leucocyte migration. It is considered that this is due to the binding of naturally occurring anti-tissue antibody which activates a chemotactic agent causing attraction of polymorphonuclear leucocytes.

A mitochondrial fraction of rat liver treated with normal rat serum has been shown to take up various immunoglobulins including the IgM induced by tissue breakdown products together with the complement components it has activated.
