Abstract

Sera from 1251 individuals in a normal urban Swedish population were investigated with the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for IgG antibodies to cytomegalovirus (CMV). The age of the individuals was from 1-87 yr. The percentage of seropositives increased from 40 in the age group 1-4 yr to 51, 64, 77 and 83 at the ages of 10-19, 20-29, 30-39 and 40-49, respectively. In the older groups 80-100% were seropositive.
