Prediction of the Bobon clinical profile of neuroleptics from animal pharmacological data
Abstract
Canonical correlation analysis has been used for the comparison of a representative set of animal pharmacological data on 24 neuroleptics with a set of clinical data on the Bobon classification of neuroleptics. The pharmacological data include several measures of antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, antihistaminergic and antinoradrenergic activities. The clinical data include several therapeutic effects and side-effects of neuroleptics using the six-point scale of the Bobon classification system. Good correlations were found for the first two pairs of canonical variables. Using these correlations, it was possible to make quantitative predictions of the clinical profiles of 21 neuroleptics based on their animal pharmacological data.
