Ultrastructure of sporulating cells of Clostridium perfringens type A grown in the presence of raffinose
Abstract
Seven-hour sporulating cells of Clostridium perfringens type A strain NCTC 10240 grown in the presence of raffinose versus starch were larger, produced a thicker cortex, and were altered in spore coat structure. Strain NCTC 8798 possessed an expanded subcoat region and (or) produced coat fragments when grown in the presence of raffinose.
