Shoulder arthroscopy. Technique and indications

J S Parisien. Bull Hosp Jt Dis Orthop Inst. 1983 Spring.

Abstract

The development of shoulder arthroscopy is reviewed since its beginnings in 1931. The technique of posterior introduction of the arthroscope and positioning of the patient is presented. An additional portal for arthroscopic surgery is also described. The main indications for the procedure are reviewed, based on a survey of the literature and the author's experience, and five cases are presented illustrating some of the situations for which the technique proved beneficial.
