Forensic considerations in examining the brain
Abstract
Lesions that result from open and closed head injury are described from the viewpoint of the forensic pathologist. Traumatic tears of fiber tracts are emphasized because they are probably even more important than hematomas and contusions for survival and rehabilitation. To analyze these difficult, often controversial cases, information must be drawn from all available sources and correlated with thorough, objective, documented descriptions of the lesions.
