[Echographic localisation diagnosis of adenomas and hyperplasias of the parathyroid in primary hyperparathyroidism (author's transl)]

Abstract

The results of echographic localization of adenomas and hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands in seven patients with primary hyperparathyroidism are reported. In four patients there was complete, and in three patients partial, agreement between the echographic diagnosis and the findings at surgery and histology. On the basis of this experience and the findings of other authors, echography must be regarded at present as the best method for pre-operative localization of adenomas and hyperplasia of the parathyroid gland.
