Abstract
Pulmonary hypertension in the newborn infant has many potential causes, and multiple etiologies are common. In this article, the author outlines the basic principles in pathophysiology, classification, and etiology that should be well understood by those who care for neonates with disease processes in which pulmonary hypertension is an important feature.
