Abstract

One case of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, associated with diabetes mellitus and pancreatic islet D-cells hyperplasia is described. D-cells were identified due to their characteristic fine structure of secretory granules. The diagnostic value of the ultrastructural investigation using autopsy and paraffin embedded materials as well as complex examination of gastroenteropancreatic system is pointed out.
