Abstract

Two patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the middle ear appearing 8 years after a tympanoplasty for cholesteatoma are reported. The tumours presented as a recurrent cholesteatoma and a temporal lobe abscess. The pathogenesis of these tumours is discussed.
