President's address. Should we learn to say no?
Abstract
KIE: In his inaugural presidential address to the 1984 annual meeting of the American Medical Association, Boyle exhorts physicians to rededicate themselves to their traditional ethic of providing high quality care, rather than succumb to a business-oriented ethic of rationing medical care for purposes of cost control. He also urges physicians and their professional organizations to take a more active role in monitoring the conduct and competence of their colleagues, and recommends that medical schools include a mandatory ethics course in the curriculum.
