[Comparative effectiveness of antiepileptic preparations in the treatment of patients with trigeminal neuralgia]
Abstract
A comparative analysis of the effect from using the antiepileptic drugs tegretol, morpholep, sucsilep, trimethin, chlonazepam, and sodium valproate in 258 patients with trigeminal neuralgia was carried out. In half of the cases long-time follow-up observations were made. The results of the treatment were analyzed with reference to the time in which the therapeutic effect appeared and reached the maximum, as well as to the stability of the therapeutic remission obtained. Causes of failure of the therapy in some patients and the drugs' side-effects were analyzed.
