KIE: The membership, functions, and policies of the ethical review committee of University College Hospital, London, are presented. Topics addressed are the committee's stand on mandatory review, the information to be provided with adult and pediatric project applications, informed consent requirements, and issues of legal liability and compensation for patients and healthy volunteers.
