Malignant tumours of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses

Malignant tumours of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses

V J Lund. ORL J Otorhinolaryngol Relat Spec. 1983.

Abstract

The experience with 220 consecutive cases of malignant tumours of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses seen over a period of 20 years by 1 person is presented. Squamous cell carcinoma (64 cases) constituted the commonest tumour though a wide range of pathologies was encountered. Combined treatment with surgery and radiotherapy produced the best results. 3- and 5-year survival was 44 and 30%, respectively. Local control of disease is very important in improving survival, and long-term follow-up is essential.
