[Comparative evaluation of the radiocardiographic and the dye dilution methods of determining cardiac output and circulating blood volume]
Abstract
The authors compared the radiocardiographic and dye-dilution methods for hemodynamics determination. Cardiac capacity and volume of circulating blood were determined in 42 patients with atherosclerotic myocardiosclerosis and acquired valvular defects. A very high correlation dependence was established between the two methods. The correlation coefficient for minute volume is r = 0.93, for cardiac index it is r = 0.91 and for beat volume--r = 0.95 (P less than 0.001). A high correlation coefficient was established for the volume of the circulating blood--r = 0.86 (P less than 0.001). The authors admit that both methods are equally accurate and completely interchangable.
