[Indication and amputation technique of below knee amputation in occlusive arterial disease (author's transl)]
Abstract
In patients with occlusive arterial disease of the lower extremity below knee amputation is successful in 75 to 85%. Below knee amputation enables a better and more rapid prosthetic rehabilitation than above knee amputation, even in very old patients. Indication, amputation technique, and postoperative stump management are described in detail.
