Abstract

Twenty-seven children with severe chronic tonsillitis, low serum and saliva IgA levels and few IgA-containing plasma cells in their tonsils had IgE-containing plasma cells in their tonsils. Several years later they developed respiratory, allergic diseases and elevated serum IgE levels.
