Hydatid cysts in childhood: analysis of 208 cases

A Hiçsönmez. Prog Pediatr Surg. 1982.

Abstract

Hydatid disease is commonly seen in Turkish children. Between 1964-1979, 208 children with hydatid cysts were treated at Hacettepe Children's Hospital. The age of the patients, the site of the hydatid cysts, the presenting symptoms and the physical findings are discussed. The most common symptoms in 66 pulmonary and 29 intracranial cases are described. The optimal treatment for the cysts in the various sites is reported in some detail.
