Abstract

KIE: The March 1982 issue of the Journal of Medical Ethics carried Pheby's article on confidentiality of medical records in the British child health services and commentaries by Jacob and Kenny. In this response, Pheby rejects peer review as an inadequate safeguard of confidentiality and accuracy in the multidisciplinary approach to child health. He proposes parents' access to the records, so that they may review information being transferred by physicians to third parties.
