Abstract

The results of tumors of the hypopharynx treated by radiotherapy alone are not satisfied. Only 9.5% out of 76 patients with tumors of the hypopharynx had a 5 years survival without relapse. Possibilities to improve the treatment results are combined modalities including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
