Bowel habits in Ugandan villagers
Abstract
Enquiry has been made into the bowel habit of 1245 rural Africans of Uganda. The range of normal bowel habit in the village African may be defined as between one and four bulky motions daily of stool that is soft or loose in consistency. This confirms the prevailing impressions; however, other aspects of the bowel habit were at variance with current opinion, and similar to findings from surveys of western populations.
