[Recurrent meningococcal meningitis associated with complement C6 deficiency (author's transl)]
Abstract
In a young West-Indian woman recurrent meningococcal meningitis was found to be associated with hereditary deficiency of the C6 component of complement. Such an association has already been reported in 8 patients, all black. Measuring the total haemolytic complement would provide an easy way of detecting high risk subjects, who would benefit from immunization.
