Occult hemophilia

C S Kitchens. Johns Hopkins Med J. 1980 Jun.

Abstract

The "classic" hemophiliac is easy to recognize. Patients with occult hemophilia are clinically less obvious, but are in danger of experiencing abnormal hemostasis. The initial diagnosis of hemophilia was made in ten patients, aged 14 to 62 years. Their factor VIII or IX deficiency ranged from 6% to 15% of normal. Age or lack of family history or hemarthropathy cannot be used to exclude hemophilia.
