[Dark adaptation of the eye of Lymnaea stagnalis]
Abstract
Electrophysiological investigation of dark adaptation has been carried out on isolated eye preparation of the snail Lymnaea stagnalis. In dark adapted preparation, the ERG amplitude increases during illumination with constant intensity. The increase in the amplitude is rapid at the initial stages illumination, it gradually becomes slower, the amplitude reaching relatively constant level. The dynamics of the response depends on the temperature, the optimum one lying between 17--20 degrees C.
