Counselling in general practice

Counselling in general practice

D Waydenfeld et al. J R Coll Gen Pract. 1980 Nov.

Abstract

The results of a two-year study of counselling in nine general practices in North London are reported. The study involved nine counsellors, 35 general practitioners, and 99 counselled clients (out of the combined practice population of 79,500 patients). Data were collected by means of questionnaires, and the study was concluded by interviews with doctors and discussions with counsellors. The findings of the study and the advantages and disadvantages of surgery counselling compared with marriage guidance centre counselling are discussed.
