[Adjuvant and palliative therapy of melanoma. Current status]

Abstract

Even though there are a couple of therapeutic concepts for the metastatic malignant melanoma and new protocols are being designed there is no cure for this tumor in the advanced stage. By carefully analyzing the results surgical therapy, radiation and chemotherapy can be named as the standard therapies. But different protocols of combined chemo- and immunotherapy, adjuvant therapies e.g. with tumor vaccines are being tried out. Experimental approaches are photodynamic therapy, the application of monoclonal antibodies and gene therapy.
