Abstract

The author suggests to rehabilitate the genus Stenophis united since 1958 with the genus Lycodryas. This rehabilitation is justified by the differences that exist between malagasy and comorian species of snake, gathered within the genus Lycodryas. In this genus Stenophis, he distinguishes 3 sub-genera: Stenophis Boulenger, Phisalixella and Parastenophis. Then he describes 8 new species belonging to the genus Stenophis.
