Effect of mytilotoxin-contaminated mussels on small intestine disaccharidase activities in rat
Abstract
An extract of mussels contaminated with Gonyaulax monilata was administered intragastrically to rats (1.5 or 2.0 ml extract/150 g body wt) 3 or 7 h before experiments. Intestinal disaccharidases were determined. Sucrase activity was changed in both mucosa and brush border after treatment. Maltase and lactase activities were affected only by the higher dosage.
