Tribal education: reflections from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
Abstract
Attracting and retaining Native American students in tribal nursing programs is crucial to the health and well-being of Native American populations. The authors share their experiences teaching nursing in the associate degree program at the Oglala Lakota College on the Pine Ride Reservation in South Dakota. The authors communicate the importance of the work of tribal nursing programs and illustrate the experience as an opportunity for nurses who are interested in cross-cultural development.
