A trial of cromoglycic acid in recurrent aphthous ulceration
Abstract
In a random double blind trial with crossover on 24 patients with recurrent aphthous ulcers (RAU) cromoglycic acid tablets significantly reduced the pain experienced when compared with placebo but did not reduce the number of days with oral ulceration present. Of the 15 patients completing the trial, 12 preferred CGA to placebo, two preferred the placebo and one had no preference. It is concluded that the cromoglycate compounds may have a valuable part to play in the symptomatic relief of RAU.
