Topical use of silver sulphadiazine and chlorhexidine in the prevention of infection in thermal injuries
Abstract
The control of sepsis in burn wounds has long been the unrealized ideal of surgeons. This has been most nearly achieved by topical applications of silver sulphadiazine and chlorhexidine cream. An account is given of its probable mode of action and the method of application, together with an anlysis of the bacteriological results in 809 patients from December, 1969, to March, 1974.
