Care of HIV-positive obstetric patients. Meeting a multigenerational challenge
Abstract
Caring for pregnant women who are HIV-positive challenges family physicians to manage a disease that can be multigenerational, directly affecting parents and their offspring and indirectly affecting many others. I review current literature on prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care of HIV-positive patients. Management of HIV-positive women must be comprehensive, supportive, and sensitive to new information.
