Treatment of pyogenic skin infections with rifaximin cream
Abstract
The authors carried out a random single blind study on 40 patients with pyodermatitis to assess the efficacy and tolerance of rifaximin cream in pyogenic skin infections. Twenty patients were treated with rifaximin and 20 with oxytetracycline, both products being in the form of cream for dermatological use. Application of rifaximin led to a more rapid and intense regression in the subjective and objective symptoms than the comparison drug, which was also clinically effective. Tolerance of both products was excellent.
